PDO Thread Lifts are a minimally invasive facelift alternative.  PDO Thread Lifts tighten your skin by inserting medical-grade threads and then then tightening the threads to, literally, pull the face up.

Threadlifts  are performed under local anaesthetic and take approximately 45minutes with patients able to walk-out and return home shortly after their procedure.

The thread lift is a revolutionary treatment which tackles prominent signs of ageing. Using one small incision on each side of the face anchoring sutures are placed under the skin using a fine needle, which elevates the sagging tissue and lifts problem areas. The treatment can take as little as 30 minutes, under local anaesthetic, and requires no hospital stay afterwards.

A PDO thread lift is a contouring and rejuvenation treatment.  PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are introduced beneath the surface of your skin to improve appearance for 18 to 24 months. The sutures used in the treatment are completely bio-degradable and dissolve into your own tissue.  Their principle component, polylactic acid, encourages the body’s production of collagen, meaning your skin will appear naturally fuller over time, even after the sutures have dissolved.

The Results

The PDO thread lift gently lifts and repositions tissues that have fallen due to gravity.  The results are a more youthful looking appearance. Hollow cheeks appear fuller, while any sagginess is lifted and wrinkles are eased.

Why Would I Need PDO Threads?

As we age our collagen and elastin deplete.  Our skin loses facial tone and fine lines, wrinkles and creases appear.  Losing this protein, combined with a natural loss of fat on the face, can hollow the upper cheeks and create heaviness above the jaw line (jowl) and around the chin (marionette lines), giving a tired and aged look.

Will I Need Downtime After Treatment?

Downtime after a Thread Lift treatment is minimal but you may experience some very slight bruising or swelling in the days following your procedure.  You may also experience some mild tension in the areas that have been elevated. Your practitioner will give you individual advice tailored to your lifestyle to ensure your recovery is as quick and easy as possible. Polydioxanone has been used in medicine for over 20 years, mainly for absorbable threads used in surgery.

How Long Will It Last?

Usually, it will only require a one-time procedure to achieve your desired lifting effect. You will see treatment results immediately after the procedure and it lasts from 8 months to 2 years. Beyond that, you may only need an annual touch-up.

What Should I Be Aware of After Treatment?

  • Keep your head elevated at least 30 degrees for the first three nights.
  • You may apply ice or a cold towel to the surgical sites for the first 24 hours. Apply for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.
  • Avoid any direct pressure to the face and area where the sutures were placed for 3 weeks after the treatment has been performed. (Example: sleeping on your face, known as the face down position, etc.)
  • You may wash your hair and face
  • Please keep facial movements to a minimum for at least 3 weeks. Avoid excessive chewing, talking, yawning, smiling, and other facial movements during this period of time.
  • Avoid drinking from a straw.
