Why you should use a facial cleanser.

Remember when your mum used to nag you as a child ‘ Have you Washed your Face’?

Well, there was a reason. Washing your face removes not only grime and dirt but the build up of dead skin cells and bacteria. Sometimes our skin needs a bit of help as dead skin cells tend to stick to the top layer, especially as our skin matures. If we didn’t wash we would end up with congested, irritated, acneic, blemished skin. However, soap and water isn’t the answer!

  • It’s best to use a targeted medical cleanser to treat your skin type.
  • Cleansers should not only remove makeup but pollutants such as dead skin cells, dust dirt and grime from the environment along with invisible pollutants like the residue from carbon monoxide fumes.
  • Cleansers should unblock clogged skin pores
  • Cleansers should be free from sulphates as these are endocrine disruptors and can strip the skin of its natural oils and break down the precious barrier leading to blemishes, sensitivity and redness
  • The cleanser you choose should be free from chemicals and irritants, such as perfumes and fragrances
  • Don’t use alcohol wipes- these dehydrate the skin and lead to barrier breakdown
  • For oily skin, use a cleanser that lowers the skin’s Ph.
  • Cream cleansers are suitable for drier skins whereas oily and sensitive skin prefer foaming cleansers

As long as the correct medical-grade products are used suitable for your skin:-

  • Cleansers reduce pore size
  • Cleansers help mop up excess oils in oily skins
  • Cleansers help medical skincare penetrate to the correct skin layer
  • Cleansers can help skin hydration in dry skins
  • The correct cleanser will benefit your skin by helping improve shine and radiance x
